"The Center for Literary Arts (CLA) at San José State University provides literary programming that allows the San José community to interact with contemporary writers who have demonstrated exceptional voice and vision. Founded in 1987, the mission of the CLA is to spread the influence of and interest in literature throughout the South Bay area and to facilitate cross-cultural understanding in the region’s ethnically diverse population through the appreciation of works of literature."

The SJSU Campus Reading Program has selected COLOR OF THE SEA as the Fall 2009 campus reading book. The program is for students, employees and alums of SJSU. Every fall, everyone on campus is encouraged to read the same book. There are discussion groups, lectures, films and other events. Schedule of author event(s) to be arranged.

The CLA will host John Hamamura for 3 author events 9/22 - 9/23: an afternoon workshop at a local high school, an afternoon Q&A, and an evening reading. Locations and hours TBA.
